the weird blue hour

2 PM today. Approaching a rainy and blue Vienna.

dark coffee state of mind (wishful thinking)

I'd like to lose myself in a dark Viennese coffee house, to cover my ears and my eyes, and only let go of those sounds coming from an old Cohen rusty song.

garden stories from a distant planet

a fallen planet this apple. mountains and valleys, white rivers and an entire colony of ants to put it at good use. who said that a rotten apple is useless?
[it's not apple, it's mandarin orange!]

my jumping blue fish (Viennese melancholy)

how about that? exile in your own house, away in your own country, lost within your own head.
hope for the lonely and the artist? of course. at any time!
and why?
well, just because there will always be a joyful row of jumping blue fish showing you the way home. wherever that might be.

of simple things and love

there are people who will bring up the best in you. the creativity, the wit, the laughter, the inner peace and the accepted inner storms. if you are lucky enough, they get to be your family too: chosen, not given. a precious gift.

a day at the museum. with my chosen sister.

Viennese scripts

A novel unfolds on the walls of the city: a romance of schnitzels and strudels, of Almdudlers and Suppentöpfer. Love goes through the stomach, they say, and how could you not love Vienna?

Viennese impressions

time, in some particular days, is something that Vienna is very generous with. there is time to travel, time to visit, time to admire.
time to coffee and time to chat.
time to friends and time to you.
time is an open door. and so is Vienna.

[post for Our World, especially thanks to the fact that tomorrow will be time to harmony - with Sabina.]

layers of sky

the sky as a layered cake ;))
among these buildings - although not so tall - there is little sky to see. that's how you live in the city, my mother will say.
sometimes I can only guess what's going on there, at the lake, on the bright open space that this little piece of sky hints to. and, from behind my computer, where I sit trapped in some document urgently requiring my words, I can only envy my-self who had some spare moments to spend at the lake with the camera, trying to catch the impossible.

A confederacy of quinces

A bunch of quinces which are now in a jar, transformed in a golden jam.
A bad taste after a certain day this past week.
A cold which I cure with apples and teas.
A silent autumn Sunday.
A jet lag without even travelling.

where did they hide the sky

maybe it's behind the sun
or
maybe it's behind the yellow

autumn skies

don't know about you, but my mornings have to be calm
and smell like coffee
a bit of bright sky is also welcomed
and maybe a slice of bread and some butter.

imperfect

don't get me wrong,
but I hate poetry.
in spite of this fact,
I cannot find a better way to express
the horror that I felt
when I realized
that by smashing that spider
I took a life.

Autumn makes me weird and sad melancholic. I guess.

cat in a corner

a coffee and cake? oh, well, but the waiter is a snail (and I mean it!). and look, there are frogs on the table, aiming at the (huge) butterflies on the wall.
does it matter? not really, as long as two funny cats keep you company.
[and did you know in Vienna there is a Katzencafe? a cafe where you can play with cats, while sipping some wonderful Viennese coffee?]

of beautiful people

the nights and days of a composer must be fabulous: dwelling in a magic world of sounds and wicked little harmonies, swirling around your ear, demanding that you catch them. that's not an easy task to get hold of your inner sound and put it on paper, and later, on the strings of a violin, or on the keys of a piano.
but how about the trivial Alltag - the quotidian, the daily routine? how does that fit this picture?
