the freedom of New Orleans (7)

Smile. Confident. Walk. Enjoy. Smile. Turn. Greet. Talk. Smile. Live. Enjoy. Celebrate. Smile.
Against the dreadful cold, a bit of New Orleans.
The weekend in B&W.

the freedom of New Orleans (6) - of rainbows and colours

I was walking in the frozen streets of Bucharest yesterday, thinking that somehow those steps are familiar to me, although somehow foreign now. Weird double realities, weird double standards. I carry with me everywhere my Viennese habits and I am so surprised when I find out they are unknown here...
But enough with this cold, let's go back to walking in the streets of New Orleans and enjoy some warmth and some colours...

the freedom of New Orleans (5) - freedom of speech

Sometimes, the freedom of speech is a different thing from what we would generally believe. Freedom of speech is when you feel free to talk with somebody that might not exactly speak you language. Say, a horse. But there are so many ways of speaking. Suprisingly, many of them do not involve words.

the freedom of New Orleans (4)

Smile, whoever you are. Freedom means to follow your heart, your instincts, your true self.

Enjoy freedom and fight that it will last forever.

I own the light [the freedom of New Orleans (3)]

I own the street, and I own the light, too. Each step I take brings me further into my future, as I am young and proud and beautiful. You might not see me, but I see the good in the world. There is no harm here, where I stand. You can ignore me, but I walk with the sun.

the freedom of New Orleans (2)

April 2011. New Orleans. Mardi Gras. And all the other words are useless. How can I express the beauty of this carnival? How can I say how much I loved both New Orleans and Baton Rouge? I have thousands of photos that are worth to be shown to the world. It's time to publish them, I guess. So this one is for Life in pictures. A glimpse of the colourful life of the Mardi Gras Krewes.

houses of New Orleans (2) - otra tranquilidad

And now would be the time for you to imagine a hot summer day, with all its tranquility and lack of sounds (others than birds humming), with all its strong light and soothing shadows. Now would be the time that you lean back, relax and imagine a porch and a chaise longue, a fruity cocktail included. Now would be the time that you take the luxury of being lazy in the middle of the week. After all, hey, tomorrow IS Friday!

are you ready?

Mardi Gras is over, but the echoes of its marches, parades, fun, good food and loud music still linger in my ears. The three bags of beads that we carried home are a sparkling proof that the whole thing was not a dream :).
