the nights and days of a composer must be fabulous: dwelling in a magic world of sounds and wicked little harmonies, swirling around your ear, demanding that you catch them. that's not an easy task to get hold of your inner sound and put it on paper, and later, on the strings of a violin, or on the keys of a piano.
but how about the trivial Alltag - the quotidian, the daily routine? how does that fit this picture?

Snow White and the seven shovels
A little house, all covered in snow. The beauty was stranded! The prince was not home!
To climb up the ivy was useless - where to run free? Because the whole country was just a white sea!
But all of the sudden, the beauty screamed: victory! A small shovel seemed more precious than all jewelry!
She rapidly uncovered the house - going through snow like through cheese a little mouse! Upon the prince's return there was nothing more to say, because a new shovel was indeed the best gift for this Valentine's Day!

I'm not much of a poet, but you see, I had to write this ode for the day :))!
My world.

unknown Romania (1). the master of the fire.
A cold weather, colder than anyone expected. Alone the sight of the fire brings a warm feeling deep down into my bones, and this in spite of the fact that I was so looking forward for (some) snow. With -20 Celsius degrees frozen in the outside thermometer, a cup of hot tea and a woolen blanket seem to be pure luxury.

the painter
She can paint with colours, she can paint with flavours. When she walks, she walks in strokes of brush, spilling light on the city's canvas. When she is bored of art, she turns chocolate into a masterpiece.
She is Margot and you can see some of her recipes (in Romanian) & paintings HERE.

flavours of Bucharest (2)
A small restaurant on a narrow street. A stormy Sunday. Snowy streets. Four friends and a perfect afternoon. Malagamba, anyone? So funny how it takes an Irishman to create that perfect Bucharest flavour we are all craving for...

conference city Iasi
Recently I attended a conference in Iasi, Romania. I've never been there before, but now I am already planning my return. Thumbs up for the University and the organizers of the conference: it was so rewarding, academically, but also from the point of view of the people met there. Simply great!
One downside could be that I didn't see much from the city. But hey, this is why we are two, so he can go around taking photos while she is playing the intellectual :))...
Nevertheless, I managed to take few pictures, at night, from the hotel window.
That's my world.

Transalpina, Romania: my (friend's) world
I am not going to complain again that I miss (one of my) home(s). Because, if I am to accept the fact that I'm a traveler, I also have to accept that I cannot be in two places at once. Anyways, while talking to my friend Ramona on Sunday evening (that is until 1 AM in the morning, you know, girls talk...) I was also checking some photos from her last trip that she uploaded on facebook. No need to say that I was so impressed that I asked for one to publish here. And here it is: on Transalpina road, in Romania. Her world, my world. Enjoy!

crocodile?
A prehistoric animal trapped in mud. Or maybe just Earth got some more wrinkles. Or simply some children played. Who knows?

resilient
yes, I know. everybody admires the resilient ones. but it is really NOT my piece of cake. if I am bored or if I had enough, oh, well, then I'm bored and I had enough. I am not the pretend type. and I'd rather speak out my mind. oooooooooooor, if I am to be resilient, I will break those waves with a big splash'n'roar. which, at the time, doesn't happen. because it's summer, and, funny enough, summer cools things down. actually, lazies things down. forget about big splashes, fiery words and bold decisions. now it's simply time to relax, wear flip-flops, a diva hat and whimsical dresses, sip a beer under an umbrella on a beach, the thing. revolution? thanks, but not now... here I am, enjoying watery wednesday.

seaside, as we (don't) know it
How long has it been? Two years? Or three?
This shore of see comes with memories, some more recent, some already fading.
It looked different. More crowded, noisier, a bit confusing since all the people were going around in a totally non-understandable frenzy.
An 80s feeling, a 2010 mess: welcome! This is the Romanian side of the Black Sea!
