our city

What I like about Vienna municipality is this feeling of "ours" that they try to create: our gardens, our Stephansdom. In Romania it doesn't work like this, people don't take care of the city, also maybe because they aren't told so. Moreover, I suspect it's a leftover feeling from the comunist times, when everybody just wanted to sabotage in a small way the system. But hey, we are still in Wien, one more day till weekend, so enjoy the photos for today. And thank you all for visiting and commenting - it means a lot!

Lara: You do such a great job of capturing Vienna. It--and Austria as a whole--is one of the most overlooked destinations in Europe, I think.

Then again, maybe that's a good thing, especially for those of us who really appreciate it for its beauty and elegance.

  3. I think you are right about the holdover feelings from communism. Give it time and I'm sure people will start to take pride in their city and start to take care of it. Cheers.

  4. I've heard Romania has gotten a bit better/cleaner since I was living there 10 years ago. But I'm sure you're right about the Communism.

Your vienna pictures are all beautiful, as usual!

  5. Hey, great pictures from Vienna. Sorry to have taken so much time to come here... Anyhow, loved to see these new set.
Enjoy your time in Vienna, and don't forget to see the Brueghel(s) at the Kunsthistorisches! OK, also the Venus from Willendorf at the Naturhistorisches... Ah, and the Imperial Torte (not the Sacher) at the hotel with the same name...

  7. Isn't it a city of music? I've always thought I would hear music everywhere if I were there.

  11. I am not sure if the system of the N.C. was Communism. What is Commmunsim? It was a System of corruption, madness, dementia ... in all country of, which is called, "Ex"-communism.
But in the other hand, the "Big Country" ... the mother of the democray and freedom, did not signed the Kyoto Agreement, whitch was the first step to save "our" plant.
I dont think, that is a question of a worldview. It is a question of money and education!
